White Cap received its third Cranberry "Scoop" at the Annual Vendor of the Year Dinner hosted by Ocean Spray in August 2008. Randy Pappadellis, President & CEO of Ocean Spray, presented the award to SWCA for "consistently meeting or exceeding" their expectations. He congratulated Silgan for embracing the philosophy of strategic partnerships focusing to keep Ocean Spray competitive on the shelf and for delivering over 300,000,000 defect-free closures in the last year .
After being presented with the award at the August Manager′s Meeting, Dennis Turman (Plant Manager, Champaign) replied, "This comes as a complete but welcomed surprise to be recognized as Ocean Spray′s Packaging Supplier of the Year. The OSOCO project has been one of Champaign′s most rewarding and successful from the start."
The innovation brought to Ocean Spray through OSOCO has kept SWCA as a leading partner. Bob Reay (Vice President, Sales) commented, "This award deservedly should be gratifying for the Champaign team. It also highlights the value of our Sales, Sales Service, Technical Service, and Research & Development personnel that interact with Ocean Spray during the course of the year."
Perhaps the best praise came from Jim Gramm, Manager, Packaging Procurement, when he said, "We looked at the body of work put forth by the Silgan team and it was a "no-brainer". The award goes to Silgan."
