Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Philippine Metal Closures plant were held last November 29, 2007 in Manila. The new facility will be the future home of Silgan White Cap Southeast Asia and is designed with a production capability of one billion caps per year with space provisions for lithography operations. The plant is located on a 10,752-sqm lot at an Export Processing Zone in Santa Rosa City, Philippines. Plant construction and fit-out works are expected to be completed by July 2008. The complete relocation of the existing SWCSEA operations plus the installation of additional cap-making lines targeted by year-end 2008.
Participating in the Groundbreaking ceremonies were key officials from the Site Developer – Greenfield Development Corporation, Building Contractor and Lessor – ILO Land Inc. and Architectural & Fit-out consultant – RN Ferrer & Associates.
The local SWCSEA team headed by Mr. Edwin P. Seña – General Manager welcomed colleagues from SWC who attended the Ceremony including Mr. Konieczny - President Silgan White Cap, Mr. Frank Sollmann – VP Finance & Admin SWCEA, Mr. Alan Wang – GM SWC China and Mr. Volker Linde – Technical Consultant.

This factory is the first major investment of Silgan Holdings in Silgan White Cap Europe/Asia after its acquisition in 2006. This significant investment points out Silgan Holdings’ strong believe in the further growth potential for the package glass sealed with Twist-Off®. This applies not only for the Philippine food and beverage market but also throughout the whole Asia Pacific Regions.
