| Darbo Gets the Milk and Honey Flowing |
| New Caramellcreme spread launched using Silgan White Cap’s
Twist-Off Closures Darbo AG from Stans in Tyrol, Austria, has chosen Silgan White Cap’s Twist-Off closure for the launch of its new brand, the Darbo Milch & Honig. The Product ![]() Now the milk and honey is flowing for Austrian consumers - thanks to the new Caramellcreme product from Darbo. It consists mainly of wholesome ingredients, such as Tyrolean Alpine milk (80%) and honey (5%), and can be used as a delicious spread, as a spooned dessert or to enhance sweet dishes. This sweet, caramelised spread has proved very popular in South America for many years, but is virtually unknown in central Europe. Market researchers at the Integral Institute reinforced the Tyrolean family- run concern's hopes of filling a gap in the market with Caramellcreme. The interviewers discovered that 25 percent of Austrians "very much" enjoy caramel products and 29 percent "quite" like them. The preferred target groups are children, women and lovers of sweet spreads. The Packaging Darbo’s Caramellcreme is presented in an attractive 220g one-way glass jar, using the 63mm RTS Twist-Off closure. The shape of the container as well as the cap diameter feature an ideal packaging for spooning directly from the jar. The Twist-Off metal lug closure ensures easy and convenient opening without a device and excellent resealability. This is an important aspect en-route but also at home when storing the jar in the fridge after first opening: the airtight metal closure prevents the absorption of other products’ odours. The Closure The unusual and innovative closure design shows “a land of milk and honey”. Well harmonised colours create the prevailing mood. It was a hard job to get the colours on the cap to match those on the paper label. This is the result of a creative and close cooperation between Silgan White Cap and Darbo over many years. About Darbo Darbo, whose premises are located at the heart of Austrian's Alpine region, relies on more than 100 years of experience and know-how in fruit and honey processing. In addition to the production of All Natural preserves, Darbo also bottles honey, produces high quality fruit and herbal syrups, and supplies the dairy industry with processed fruits. "Fruchtikus", another Darbo innovation sealed with Silgan White Cap’s PT closure, is Austria's first fruit snack to spoon.
