Premium closures for the Indian marketOriental Containers Ltd. (OCL), market leader in the field of metal packaging in India has signed a Licensing Agreement with Silgan Holdings Inc., Stamford/USA. Silgan is a 2.8 billion dollar packaging company producing metal and plastic containers as well as metal and plastic closures. An integral part of the contract is the technology transfer to manufacture Twist-Off (registered trademark) closures at OCL’s modern plant near Mumbai. OCL’s technical partner will be Silgan White Cap Europe/Asia (SWCEA), headquartered in Hanover, Germany.
Silgan White Cap is a leading premium closure producer for metal Twist-Off and PT-style caps as well as Plasti-Twist (registered trademark for plastic closures). The Twist Off closure was invented by White Cap 80 years ago. Over the decades White Cap has developed several patented solutions and has continuously enhanced technology to become the market leader in more than 75 countries around the world.
The Indian market is poised for major growth in the food and still beverage sector in the coming years. Bottled products like juice, sport and non-carbonated drinks, iced tea, ketchup, sauce, fruit and vegetable preserves, jam, gherkin, pickles, milk etc. will be the preferred choice of urban consumers in the future.
Because of this, every glass bottle will need the right closure to preserve the flavour, colour and quality of its content. With access to the White Cap patented technology, OCL will be ideally positioned to offer an extensive range of Twist-Off closures to the food and beverage industry in India.
