The Customer
The customer is EMIG of Rellingen, Germany and the brand is "Summerhill", a range of aseptically filled fruit juices and nectars with 100% or 50% fruit content. The products are available in 330ml PET bottles. EMIG chose Silgan White Cap Europe/Asia as the closure supplier because of a good existing relationship with the supply of metal Twist-Off caps, the availability of a closure, the Plasti-Twist Triple Seal, which had technical features ideally suited to the "Summerhill" range and Silgan White Cap’s excellent customer relations and service.
The Closure
The closure selected is the 38mm Plasti-Twist Triple Seal , 3 Threaded cap, a compression moulded mono material polyethylene closure with D-tamper evident band, specifically designed for cold and aseptic filling. The Triple Seal function of the cap offers many advantages. There are 3 contact sealing points for the closure and the container finish – top, inner and outer – guaranteeing a hermetic, airtight seal, hence the name Triple Seal.
By virtue of the Triple Seal function the closure has a multiple safety opening feature. After top seal release and outer seal release it is necessary for the tamper evident band to break. Only when the band is broken , the 3rd inner seal will release and the bottle is opened. The 38mm Plasti-Twist Triple Seal cap has low opening torques, which is convenient for the
consumer.
Top printing is possible on the closure with a maximum of 4 colours. The matt finish on the surface guarantees enhanced printing opportunities. The 38mm Plasti-Twist Triple Seal 3 Threaded closure is suitable for use with PET, PP and HDPE plastic bottles; further diameters of caps are currently in preparation. The closure is ideal for many cold fill and cold aseptic fill applications, including juices, still juice drinks, health drinks, iced tea, fresh milk and milk drinks.
The cap is also available with 2 threads.
