51mm PT-BandŽ
Improvement is an ongoing process within Silgan
White Cap. The company has been regularly
developing and enhancing its PT closure range,
including a recently introduced universal
Press-On Twist-Off® cap, the 51PTU.
Now, as a further milestone in the continuous
improvement process, the 51PT-Band® closure
has been launched.
The cap is a new composite metal and plastic
closure (patent pending) with plastic tamper
evident band and safety button indicator.
The universal closure design is suitable for all
Press-On Twist-Off® applications.

Dual Tamper Evidence
When the vacuum is released during first opening the
safety button pops up with an audible click. Simultaneously
the plastic band breaks and stays permanently detached
from the closure. This ensures a maximised safety in
respect of package tampering. The changes on the
closure are visible twice (Button & Band), but you can
also hear and feel the change. |

Migration Reduction
The gasket material food contact area has been
significantly reduced via an improved compound
placement. Additional reduction of specific migration
of ESBO plasticizer material can be achieved by newly
developed ESBO-reduced compound formulas. |

Opening Torque
Improved lower opening torque is achieved by a renewed
gasket geometry, suitable for the universal use of the
closure in the various PT processes. |

|
|
More Robustness
Improved impact resistance is realized using a renewed
closures shell design. This gives an additional advantage
in critical customer processes. |

Compound Materials
The 51mm PT-Band® can be combined with the existing
compound material solutions for Press-On Twist-Off®.
Forthcoming legal requirements will be carefully monitored
and included in our continuous improvement process. |

Sealing and Application
The cap fits into the current Silgan White Cap line
equipment set-up. The new ”Magnetic Cap Seating
Assembly“ brings the PT-Band® into the exact sealing
position. There is more security and reliability for the
entire sealing process. |
The 51mm PT-Band® requires an adjusted glass finish which
can also be used for the standard PT closure. The unification
of the existing PT glass finishes into a single specification for
PT is an additional benefit for the whole supply chain.
